Chapter 5 Behavioral and Social Learning Theories

 Description: The central focus of chapter five was to define what learning is and discuss the various theories associated with the development of social and behavioral learning processes (Slavin, 2018). The behavioral learning theories are broken down by their various components, such as reinforces, punishers, and the withdraw or maintenance of the various stimuli to help support student growth (Slavin, 2018). The author also includes various suggested styles and strategies for implementing the different components. Chapter 2 Cognitive, Language, and Literacy Development.

Description:             The focus of chapter 2 was centered on cognitive development in various stages of a child’s life. The chapter introduced Piaget, Vygotsky, and Bronfenbrenner’s theories on the development of cognition and learning, as well as some of the strengths and weaknesses of each theory.   Analysis:             In order for students to learn, educators must have a robust understanding of how children perceive, think, learn about their environment, and apply understanding.   Educators should use this knowledge to construct effective learning opportunities that are attainable and facilitate true understanding.
